    Online Databases & eResources

    As a public library we now have access to a variety of eResources which our patrons can use at the library or online from home. You will be required to enter your library card number for some of these resources. Access to these online databases is funded by the Ministry of Culture through Knowledge Ontario.

    NEW! E-books and E-audiobooks from OverDrive: Download books and audiobooks anytime and then transfer to your portable device! Browse the library and add audiobooks to your cart. When you're ready, you can check out your items using the simple online process. Please Note: You will need to enter your library card number to download a book.
    Sources for other free e-books:
    Amazon: Free classics and out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books, as well as limited-time free promotional e-books available for Kindle.
    Baen Books: Baen Books, publisher of science fiction and fantasy, offers a number of their titles as free downloads.
    The Internet Archive: The Internet Archive Text Archive contains a wide range of fiction, popular books, children's books, historical texts and academic books.
    Kobo Books: 299 titles available in multiple formats. You have the option to download the title or read it on your computer.
    Manybooks.net: There are more than 29,000 e-books available here and they're all free.
    Online Books Page: The Online Books Page from the University of Pennsylvania Libraries offers an index of hundreds of thousands of online books freely available on the Internet.
    Project Gutenberg: Project Gutenberg is the place where you can download over 33,000 free e-books to read on your PC, iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone, Android or other portable device.
    Smashwords: Discover Great E-books from indie authors and publishers.
    Ancestry Library Edition: Census records, passenger lists, and other material for researching your family history. Note: In-library access only.
    Canada in Context: Designed for students, this resource meets curriculum standards for information in areas including history, science, literature, geography, and culture.
    Chilton Library (automotive repair): A complete set of Chilton manuals online, with thousands of year, make, and model combinations covering the most popular vehicles of the past 30 years, plus additional coverage of specialty models.
    Computer Database: A set of computer-related product introductions, as well as news and reviews in areas such as hardware, software, electronics, and the application of technology.
    CPI.Q (Canadian periodicals): Articles from a comprehensive list of Canadian and international journals, magazines, newspapers, and reference books. Includes many Ontario newspapers.
    Discovering Collection: Thousands of overview essays, critical analyses, biographies, timelines, and multimedia elements appropriate for middle school, high school, and college assignments.
    Educators 200: Articles aimed at teachers covering the latest technologies, developments, instruction, and coaching breakthroughs, as well as background information on child health and development.
    Gale Virtual Reference Library: More than 100 complete encyclopedias and reference books online and searchable, in areas such as health, law, medicine, and business.
    General Business File ASAP: Material to help in the analysis of company performance and activity, plus industry events and trends and the latest in management, economics, and politics.
    General OneFile: Millions of articles on all subjects, such as business, technology, current events, economics, education, law, literature, art, politics, science, social science, and sports.
    General Reference Centre Gold: A variety of reference sources in one, including newspapers, magazines, reference books, and trade publications.
    Grzimek's Animal Life: For kids, an image-rich, dynamic online resource featuring more than 4,000 species of amphibians, reptiles, birds, fish, insects, and mammals. Includes information on evolution, habitat, behaviour, and range.
    InfoTrac Junior Edition: For kids in grades 6-8, more than 300 e-books with information on current events, arts, science, popular culture, health, government, history, sports, and more.
    InfoTrac Student Edition: For high school students, a quick and easy way to do classroom assignments and get answers to general reference questions.
    Kids InfoBits: For kids in kindergarten through grade 5, information provided through a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface with a subject-based topic tree.
    LegalTrac: Full-text coverage of major law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals, and international legal journals.
    Literature Resource Centre: Information on authors and their works, from all time periods and around the world. Supports coursework in English and the humanities as well as general interest in books and authors.

    NewsStand: Content from more than 1,200 newspapers from across the world, fully searchable.
